I fell in love with this piece in a repertoire class in my second year, but I didn’t find it quite usable because the text — from the old Union Prayer Book — felt antiquated and stilted. Luckily, there is an updated version of the same prayer in Mishkan Tefilah, allowing this beautiful melody to live on another generation.
